Nuova GIDUE S.r.l., a manufacturer of printing and converting machines for the Label and Packaging industry reports the successful installation of an Xpannd press line in Poland.

The press configuration is one of the most complete Nuova GIDUE has ever built. 2 flexo units, 1 platform for interchangeable flexo-RSI Storkprints screen-hot stamping heads, 5 offset, 1 HD heavy duty special hot stamping, 1 offset, 2 flexo, 1 platform for combination, 1 rotary embossing, 1 die-cutting, 1 sheeting.

Mr. Igor Protiuk, MD of Colorpress, confirms that "due to the complexity of the machine we previewed a longer period for the testing and installation phase, and I was positively surprised by the easiness of installation and by the confidence of our operators on the press in such a short time.” Mr Protiuk adds : " our press combines Offset with nearly all the possible printing technologies (flexo, screen, hot stamping, embossing etc.) High quality was some how “expected”, the ease of operation is a big “bonus” for us."

Nuova GIDUE S.r.l. manufactures flexographic, offset and combination presses for the Label and Packaging markets in Italy. The main plant is located in the magnificent outskirts of Florence, while sales and service offices are in Turate, close to Milan.

 

Xpannd is the realization of GIDUE project of a combined flexo/offset machine, patented and produced for the self-adhesive label and shrink sleeve markets, able to satisfy the most demanding requirements in terms of quality and repeatability. The Hi-Offset unit, core of the Xpannd machine, has been designed to overcome the annoying 'ghosting' effect and to favour the rapid passage of the ink to the web to ensure the highest quality during production. The Xpannd printing quality is certified by the German SID Institution and is comparable to sheet-fed offset standards.

The new Xpannd 450 is convenient for printing both self-adhesive labels and shrinkable sleeves and makes offset/flexo combination a valuable choice for a larger number of converters.

The sale freedom of UV offset printing process resides in the possibility of supplying, with limited efforts, a global answer to global brands around the world. In offset everything is standardized inside an open system, with the results of a major certitude about the kind of repeatability and availability of consumer products.

The Xpannd is fully digitally controlled. The introduction of Digital Automation makes the control of the variables possible: quantity of ink, quantity and balance of the dampening solution in relation to the substrate and to the speed, ink tray recipes control, tension and temperature control. Thanks to the servo assisted Intelligence we have all the data stored in a PC connected to the converter MIS system, which can anticipate the differences caused by the variations in speed and substrate behaviour.

The Xpannd boasts the revolutionary 'mark to mark' Multi-camera Intelligent Register system with cameras (not photo-cells!) positioned on each print unit and able to recognize the register pattern. The register is fully automatic at set-up (pre-register) and during production (register), the register verifies the printing pressures and the operation is totally independent from the operator’s skills. The Xpannd register system ensures exceptional performances on self-adhesive substrates with a tolerance of ±0,02mm at the highest speeds, on the most subtle colours!
The I-Combat offers to the printing company the complete control on the press. On the I-Combat all the press operations are digitally operated via seven servo-motors per print unit; in case of repeated jobs, the position of each motor is recalled to ensure an accurate pre-adjustment of the printing pressure and a faster set-up. Intelligence means consistency of control on the machine, incredibly fast set-up times and low wastage, independently from speed or job changes. Web tension and temperature are digitally controlled (Intelligent Web), printing and inking pressures data are stored and automatically recalled during operation and superior servo-assisted register and pre-register capabilities (Intelligent Register) result in trouble-free operation, where all the risks are predictable and thus avoidable.

Multinational companies, which need ‘digital’ productivity and standardized results in different production sites, and customers who aim at expanding quickly do take advantage of the total control on the I-Combat and its possibilities to be linked to the company Management Information System. Servo drives on the Intelligent platforms link press operating parameters to digital storage: this way, every press variable is under control and independent from the operator.
